International Women's Day: Conio celebrates women.

"Inspiring Inclusion" is this year's motto for International Women's Day, emphasizing the importance of diversity and empowerment in all aspects of society, particularly in the workplace, and encouraging recognition of the unique perspectives and contributions of women. Technological innovation itself is inclusive because it allows everyone to be part of the change and creates new professional opportunities where women are achieving excellent results.

In the context of fintech, although female presence is still limited, we are witnessing an encouraging evolution: in 2023, 46% of startups show moderate gender diversity, with a percentage of women ranging from 30% to 50%. This suggests a growing awareness and commitment to promoting women in key roles in the industry. Although 86% of teams are predominantly male, there are positive signs of change and inclusion in emerging companies. (Source: FinTech Waves, The Italian FinTech ecosystem 2023 edition.)

At Conio, we are proud to send a positive signal: the percentage of women hired by us is around 30%. The female quota of the team is constantly increasing and, in addition to being distributed across all company departments - marketing, tech, and finance, among others - holds strategic positions within our company.

On the occasion of March 8th, to celebrate the pioneering role of women in the fintech sector, we had the honor of interviewing some of our extraordinary Conio women.

What do you think is the added value of women in the workplace?

"I believe that in any position or field of work, women are able to provide diverse perspectives and viewpoints, even in terms of problem-solving, bringing significant contributions to work teams."

How do you see the role of women in the future of the tech sector?

"I hope that women are increasingly encouraged to work in the tech world, which, being very 'scientific,' could benefit from a more creative perspective often associated with the female gender."

A wish for women for today:

"I hope that today's day is an opportunity for everyone, not just for women, to celebrate diversity and see it as added value."

What do you appreciate most about your work in this field?

"The challenge: talking about a technologically complex product that still generates some distrust in certain users obviously places my work on a different level. Additionally, my personal challenge is to bring many women into the sector, especially those who have felt excluded from traditional finance until now."

How do you see the role of women in the future of the fintech sector?

"Women in this sector are steadily increasing. The fintech sector allows us to see truly innovative realities, combining technology with creativity. For this reason, I believe that women should not stop in the face of prejudices but should enthusiastically embrace the innovations brought by this sector."

A wish for women for today:

"I wish all women to feel free to do what they want, and not to impose limits on themselves just because they think they can't do it."

"More and more central. As in other sectors, our contribution, thanks to a growing awareness even in the workplace and financial field, will allow the sector to grow. Sometimes even with a more conscious and less speculative approach."

"Do not think that there are jobs or areas that are not suitable for women. During my experience at Conio, I have seen various female talents bring their valuable contribution to the company."

"I wish all women to become more aware that it is our ideas and our peculiarities that make us special. Remember that it is our vulnerabilities that make us very strong."

"The current data regarding the percentage of female employment in the fintech sector project us into a future where women, now in clear numerical minority due to economic, social, environmental factors, will increase in number, role, and importance."

What do you think is the added value of women in the workplace?

"Diversity and variety are fundamental elements that enrich every context, including the workplace, in a necessary way. The presence of diverse individuals by gender, as well as by interests, personal and professional characteristics, and backgrounds can only improve and stimulate an environment that would otherwise risk being more sterile."

A wish for women for today:

"That our work and social future be what we truly deserve. And that this happens thanks to the collaboration of everyone because each of us alone cannot change the world, but together, yes!"
