Leading the Way in Inclusion and Progress

As we celebrate International Women's Day 2024, Rockwell College proudly aligns with the United Nations' theme of 'Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress' and the campaign theme of 'Inspire Inclusion.' These resonant themes deeply reflect our ethos, emphasising the importance of nurturing holistic growth and fostering shared experiences. Through education, empowerment, and inclusion, we are dedicated to accelerating progress and envisioning a future where every individual thrives.?

For over a century, Rockwell College stood as a bastion of education exclusively for boys until the late 1980s when girls were first introduced as Repeat Leaving Certificate pupils. Since then, Rockwell College has made significant strides in fostering gender inclusivity within its walls, culminating in a groundbreaking milestone in September 2023.?

It was at the start of the 2023/24 Academic Year that Rockwell College took a historic leap forward by welcoming girls to its residence for the first time. This progressive step positioned Rockwell as Ireland's inaugural and sole co-educational Catholic boarding school, underscoring its commitment to providing a comprehensive and inclusive educational experience for all its students.?

In September 2023, Rockwell College welcomed 19 girls as onsite boarders, with an additional 10 residing with host families locally. Today, the momentum continues to surge, with 40 girls enrolled as boarders onsite for the 2024/25 Academic School Year. This overwhelming demand signals the strides taken by Rockwell College and the broader community towards Embracing Inclusion and Progress. As a result, considerations are underway for the development of additional accommodation to meet the growing enrolment for future years. This reflects our commitment to fostering an environment where every individual feels valued and supported in their educational journey.?
