International Women’s Day 2024: Our story, FEPS, a Female Led Business

For International Women’s Day, the theme this year is to inspire inclusivity. Women can achieve anything; Women are capable, and Women are powerful!

IWD is a day to share stories and celebrate success, as a company, we would like to share the story of our female founded business, Fusion Education People Solutions.

Our Managing Director, Kathryn Birch, has been the championing voice behind the business since it first started over 13 years ago.

Kathryn started in education as a School Business Manager and Consultant for 7 years, learning the ropes of education HR and seeing first-hand the issues that School Business Leaders faced and the impact that subsequently had on the children.

Kathryn felt propelled to provide further support for schools and Trusts after leading amazing achievements at the schools she worked with, she had a sense of obligation to ensure that the children’s education was at the heart of everything she did.

A lot of hard graft, a pinch of glitter and voila! FusionHR was born in 2011. Working solely at first, Kathryn began to build her team and joining her were 3 other strong female leaders, Siobhan, Lucy and Katie.? Her team had all worked in education for many years, understanding the full breadth of people and business challenges in school, colleges, and Trusts.

Siobhan, Lucy and Katie are still with FEPS today, holding positions as Company Directors!

As FusionHR blossomed, Kathryn felt there was more to be done to support schools and Trusts in their people management. Along came SAM, Staff Absence Management software founded and developed by Fusion. Since its introduction into schools, SAM has become a well-loved and trusted absence management system, providing education business leaders with seamless people management.

As FEPS grew into the business it is today, our remit of services grew with us. We now offer a full circle of HR and recruitment services for education, compromising of SAMpeople, FACE-Ed, FusionHR and Payroll.?

We now support over 1600 schools and trusts under our Fusion Education People Solutions umbrella. Our customers tell us that ‘we just get it’. We exist to help you to drive impactful school improvement through a range of intervention tools and techniques. Our people advice and people software are outcome and results driven as we always put children’s education and futures at the heart of our solutions.

Our founding female team is always at the heart of the next steps for Fusion Education People Solutions, and we are proud to have teams full of strong women across the whole FEPS business!
