Corry Naftali | Senior Account Manager

What is your role at Send Payments, and what aspect of it do you find most enjoyable or rewarding?

I’m a Senior Account Manager here at Send Payments, my role is pretty much dealing directly with clients every day. It is interesting to discover how different people are, and learning to adjust our approach to fit into people’s different priorities and personalities.

Also we celebrate every win here (no matter how big or small) so the job feels rewarding every single day :)

How does promoting diversity contribute to the success of businesses?

Personally, I am an Indonesian woman who works in an Australian company, so a company that encourages this is one of the top requirements when I was looking for a role. And I am glad I found it here at Send Payments :)

I think it is so important for companies to promote diversity. In this day and age where everything can be accessed globally, businesses wouldn’t deal with stakeholders from any particular specific background anymore - if they encourage diversity internally, I believe the business will be able to handle any interactions with global stakeholders externally too.

In our efforts to encourage more young women to explore careers in technology and finance, what guidance would you offer to those seeking to enter these industries?

Getting into a role that is still dominated by men can be quite daunting, so I’d like to encourage younger women to not be scared in getting into a new role or a new working environment. As Ginger Rogers would say, “There’s nothing a man can do that I can’t do better and in heels” ;)

Also, don’t try so hard to hide your woman’s trait in your professional self (I tend to do this too sometimes, guilty). Women can be perceived as more emotional than men but It’s good to show your empathy, kindness, and passion to your work.

Who are the pioneering women in your professional or personal circles whom you admire, and how have they influenced your own journey?

Can I say Taylor Swift? I am a big fan and she is a definition of a #GirlBoss.

But since she’s not in my professional or personal circles, I would say the next inspiring woman in my life is my mum.

Since I was a kid, she encouraged me to get all sort of courses and lessons, which I believe built my character to be persistent, determined and not easily give up on anything. Although at the time I definitely felt forced and hated it, but I’m very grateful for it now.

What personal or professional accomplishments are you most proud of?

?I’m probably most proud in getting my Masters degree in relatively young age - I got them when I was just turning 23 years old.

Since then, I have been through a lot of changes (and sometimes challenges) in my professional career. I learned a lot from experiences and (lots and lots of) mistakes, and I am very proud of it
