International Women's Day 2019: A balance world is a better world.
Making a difference, effecting optimistic change and empowering women from diverse cultures is what I strive to do each and every-day. I really do believe that by cultivating and sharing my own life experiences, my knowledge and my dreams; that this will translate into the creation of a world where differences of gender, race and culture are celebrated, recognised and equally rewarded.
This year, the theme for International Women’s Day is Balance for Better. Life is better when it is balanced – at home and work. Balance is what keeps equilibrium, it’s fair and it’s the right thing to do; in the government, in the media, for employees and employers. This year let’s all turn our thoughts to balance.
On International Women’s Day we stand and applaud the women in our community who have made a difference; they are Mothers, daughters, sisters – they are all part of our family. This is our time to reflect and to ask ourselves, how can we balance cultural diversity in our community? how can we seek to equalise the balance of power held by women?
I don’t have all the answers. One thing I do know, is that our shared experiences as women empowers and inspires us. When women support each other, we can accomplish any goal we set our hearts and minds to.
Today is International Women’s Day, take the time to say thank you to the women who have inspired you. And then, #balanceforbetter to encourage a whole new generation of women to promote the place of women in our culture, in our society and in the workplace.
Today, I’ll be celebrating women and balance for a better society; by participating in these events across NSW:
Wellbeing of Women (WOW) network event convened by CORE Community Services at Mounties RSL, in Mount Pritchard in Sydney's South West.
The Wellbeing of Women (WOW) network is a collective of service providers sharing information and experiences to facilitate exploring strategies that will guide the network to meet the needs and wants of local women. The network shares skills and resources to strengthen services for women in south west Sydney, a region where I grew up and I'm passionate about.
