International Wine Contest Bucharest 2017

Held in the city centre of Bucharest, the 2017 International Wine Contest Bucharest really must be complimented on the standard of these awards and the care of the organisers to make sure that all involved took away positive experiences.

Attention to detail is the key focus with these awards that will have taken years to evolve and put into it's current smooth organisation standards from the choice of venue to the quality and strength of it's branding.

What are always great about judging wines, especially international wine competitions, is that it brings together people from across the globe, on our committee alone we had Slovenia, Romania, Netherlands, Hungary, UK represented. A total of 33 foreign judges were present from 22 countries in total.

Four days of judging took place with over 1,500 wines from 25 countries across the globe judged with many receiving silver, gold or on some rare occasions double gold. The scoring system was all done via tablets with an easy to use software to enable scoring on visual, aromas and taste.

Each day we were invited to taste foods and experience wines of Romania via varied trips including Pescarus restaurant by the lake and Viile Metamorfosis winery.

A big congratulations to #IWCB2017 and I look forward to being involved for many years to come.
