Stantec completes Priest Rapids Dam improvement project ahead of schedule
Stantec has announced the early completion of the Priest Rapids Right Embankment Improvement Project in Washington. The project, a partnership with Grant County Public Utility District No. 2 (Grant PUD) and IMCO General Construction, was completed one month ahead of schedule.

Teesta-V power station damaged by landslide
A severe landslide struck the 510MW Teesta-V Power Station of the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) in Sikkim, causing significant damage to key infrastructure. NHPC confirmed that the landslide affected the Tail Race Tunnel (TRT) gate hoist structure and a portion of the Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) building. Fortunately, there have been no casualties, as the power station was evacuated in advance due to ongoing landslide risks in the area.
Snowy 2.0 to deploy fourth tunnel boring machine to meet 2028 deadline
Snowy Hydro Limited has confirmed plans to bring in a fourth tunnel boring machine (TBM) to ensure the Snowy 2.0 project remains on track for its target completion date of December 2028. This decision follows new ground testing that revealed the fault zone on the 17kmtunnel route is more challenging than initially believed. The move is pending approval from the NSW Department of Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure.
Italy to boost support for Ukraine’s hydropower restoration
Italy has pledged to increase its support for the restoration of Ukraine’s hydroelectric power plants, which have been?heavily damaged by Russian attacks. This commitment was reaffirmed during a meeting between Ihor Syrota, CEO of Ukrhydroenergo, and Carlo Formosa, the Italian Ambassador to Ukraine. The meeting also included Natalia Boyko, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, and Vitaliy Kushnirov, a member of Ukrhydroenergo’s Supervisory Board.
BC Hydro begins filling Site C reservoir
BC Hydro has started the process of filling the Site C reservoir, marking one of the final stages of the Site C dam project. This process will take between two to four months, with water levels expected to rise by 30cm to three meters daily.
