ProClime and IPPAN sign landmark MoU to boost Nepal’s hydropower in global market

ProClime and the Independent Power Producers’ Association of Nepal (IPPAN) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate the issuance of up to 2000MW of International Renewable Energy Certificates (IRECs) for Nepal’s hydropower sector. Floating solar: a new frontier for renewable energy

As the demand for solar energy grows, floating solar photovoltaics (FPVs) are emerging as a key solution to land constraints. New research suggests that installing FPVs on just 10% of suitable water bodies could generate enough electricity to meet 16% of some countries’ energy needs. With additional benefits such as reducing water loss and improving grid reliability, FPVs present a major opportunity –?though challenges like infrastructure limitations and ecological impacts must be carefully managed.

As the US hydropower workforce faces an impending surge of retirements by 2035, the National Hydropower Association (NHA) is taking proactive measures to address the evolving needs of the industry. In response to this imminent challenge, NHA has established the Hydro Academy which offers the water power community a variety of courses and workshops to aid in continuing education and professional development.
