Hitachi Energy expands transformer operations in Germany
Hitachi Energy has announced a significant investment of more than €30 million in the expansion and modernization of its power transformer manufacturing facility in Bad Honnef, Germany. This investment is expected to be completed by 2026 and will result in the creation of up to 100 new jobs in the region. The expansion is a response to the increasing demand for transformers to support Europe's clean energy transition.
TBM making significant progress on Vishnugad-Pipalkoti hydropower project, India
Terratec's Hard Rock Double Shield Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) is achieving significant milestones on the Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydropower Project in India, the company has announced. The ?9.86m TBM has successfully excavated 431m in January 2024, marking a substantial advancement for the project.
Druk Green Power Corp invites international consultancy firms to bid for Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Projects
The Royal Government of Bhutan has assigned Druk Green Power Corporation Limited (DGPC) the responsibility of conducting the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for the Integrated Gongri Hydropower Project and Jeri Pumped Storage Project in eastern Bhutan.
Bridge construction progressing as part Lesotho Highlands Water Project Phase II
The Polihali Dam will create a 5042ha reservoir at the confluence of the Senqu and Khubelu rivers. The Polihali Dam and the Polihali to Katse Transfer Tunnel are the main water transfer infrastructure works of Phase II of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project. New roads and bridges are required to restore access across the reservoir and connectivity to the national road network.?The Senqu Bridge is the largest of the three major bridges under construction to span the Polihali reservoir.? Almost a kilometre long (825m) and at a height of 90m, it will be the first extradosed bridge in Lesotho and is larger than the Mphorosane Bridge on the Malibamats’o River which spans the Katse Dam and was constructed under Phase I of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project.
Upper Hunter Hydro awarded development agreement for pumped storage hydropower projects in Australia
WaterNSW has recently granted a development agreement to Upper Hunter Hydro (UHH) to explore two significant pumped hydro projects with the capacity to store over 1000MW for 8-12 hours. These projects, situated at Glenbawn and Glennies Creek dams in the Hunter Valley, hold the potential to power more homes in the Upper Hunter region.

Ukrhydroenergo secures €200 million financial support from EBRD and Government of Italy
Ukrhydroenergo has secured a €100 million loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and a parallel concessional loan of €100 million from Italy, to support the recovery and maintenance needs of the company's hydroelectric infrastructure.
