International Development Week 2025

International Development Week 2025

Hey Manitoba!

International Development Week (IDW) is coming up and we have great events and resources to celebrate. Find details below or on our website www.mcic.ca

  • On January 23rd we will be cheering on the Manitoba Moose Hockey Club at Canada Life Centre. We are bringing fun mini games and prizes to the concourse so if you're going to the game, come visit us and play!
  • We are excited to release this year’s Voices for Change video on February 4th (on YouTube). This piece is extremely personal to our talented group of high school students, and we are so proud of them. Their words, passion and courage will move you. A special thanks to Steve Locke, Aurora Family Therapy Centre , Katie + Gunner Gallery and the artist B?styek.

  • On February 5th we will be the 19th annual Social Justice Fair at Canadian Mennonite University . Come by our table for some Fairtrade chocolate and a chat. We’ll see you there!
  • Our Development Impact Awards recognize projects that align with at least one of the six core action areas of the Feminist International Assistance Policy (FIAP) and have brought about meaningful change in communities.. It is our great pleasure to announce this year’s award winners at the MB Legislative Building and online on February 5th.
  • On February 6th the one and only Danny Ramadan will be at The Forks Market in Winnipeg for a special conversation led by Faith Fundal . Danny’s memoir Crooked Teeth is the inspiration for this conversation. You don’t want to miss it! Get your tickets today.
  • Our friends at Matter Queer Space Manitoba are hosting a Book Club on Crooked Teeth on February 1st as a lead up to our evening event. Check them out for details.

  • Université de Saint-Boniface is hosting Peace Building and Reconciliation in Colombia on February 13. The event is free and open to the public. It includes the screening of a documentary and panel discussion featuring special guests from Colombia alongside Niigaanwewidam Sinclair and Janelle Delorme . MCIC is proud to be a co-sponsor of this event.
  • Our annual book lists are now available! Throughout the month of February, we are hosting book display contests (open to public and school libraries!) and student reading challenge. Get your students exploring global perspectives and social issues through reading. Find details on our contests or get in touch with us [email protected] if you have any questions.

We are excited to celebrate IDW 2025. It is a chance to highlight the key contributions that Canadians are making around the world. Let's continue to work together for a more just and sustainable world for all. Global Affairs Canada | Affaires mondiales Canada
