International Day of Women and Girls in Science - Terumo's Efforts to Achieve the Environmental Goals
Terumo Interventional Systems
Pushing Boundaries in Interventional Medicine
February 11 is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This year’s theme, "Bringing communities forward for sustainable and equitable development" reflects the impact of #SDGs on the #environment.
?
#Terumo is focusing on implementing environmental initiatives throughout the company, and Terumo Yamaguchi, one of the product manufacturing sites for Terumo Interventional Systems, has been actively strengthening its environmental protection efforts. Celebrating its 10th anniversary and receiving ISO certification* for EHS in 2021, Terumo Yamaguchi has been contributing to the stable supply of homogeneous products on a global scale.
Ms. Mayumi Morishita, one of the female associates in the Maintenance Section in Terumo Yamaguchi, is responsible for monitoring and measuring environmental performance, the management of alternative CFCs, and waste management. We asked Ms. Morishita what she enjoys most about her job.
“Terumo Yamaguchi is expanding in scale every year, and this increases the amount of energy and raw materials used, and the environmental impact. The generated waste is thoroughly separated and recycled. For me, my job satisfaction comes from being able to improve everyone's work (improved recycling rate and work efficiency) by noticing small things in the daily production.
In recent years, in order to achieve carbon neutrality, we have used capital investment and other measures to increase energy conservation and renewable energy sources, and strengthen our efforts in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. ?Terumo Yamaguchi is committed to further reducing its environmental impact and realizing a sustainable society.”
?
Terumo female associates work in various fields at multiple sites around the world, and are a vital part of our diverse teams. Across the globe, all our associates are committed to continuing in efforts to achieve our environmental goals.
