International Day Of Education; Learning for lasting peace

“ Today as we mark #International day of education, we celebrate the role of education in breaking boundaries between cultures and countries, maintaining peace and equality with this year’s theme being learning for lasting peace.

Education is something that gives us flight, direction and purpose in our lives. It is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world, with the surge of violent conflicts paralleled by an alarming rise of discrimination, racism, xenophobia and hate speech, let us do whatever is in our power to ensure that all our fellow beings get the gift of education.

Naivas is contributing to this in a small way through its project “A Kenyan writer’s path”. This project provides a retail platform for Kenyan authors and publishers to connect with their readers. The journey began in May 2021 when we made a call to local authors to partner with Naivas.? This initiative was not only aimed at ensuring that authors and publishers have an effective distribution network for their work, but also to encourage reading habits and to ensure that Kenyan stories and traditions are preserved for generations to come.

We are pleased that since the project started, we have listed 622 books from over 300 local authors and publishers. Readers are able to purchase these books across 54 Naivas stores. This ensures a nationwide access to books on a wide range of topics and written in different dialects in recognition of Kenya’s diversity and identity.

The project has gone from strength to strength and this year we take this project a notch higher as we have partnered with Nuria Kenya to offer an exciting array of in-store activities, such as book signings. Through such interactions with our local authors and books we hope to continue supporting the education of future generations."

I've been at your head office dropped my CV several times with no reply. My question is what qualifications are you looking for when you hire and is your hiring process fully based on recommendations only ? I've heard you only pick those recommended by your employees
