Intern Spotlight - Mamta Matkar, Employer Brand Intern

Let's meet one of our Fall 2023 interns - Mamta! She is currently working as an Employer Branding Intern at Questrade Financial Group (QFG), where she helps to promote our amazing people and culture. She is excited to learn about attracting the right talent and amplifying QFG's employer brand through social media and written communication. We wanted to discover more about Mamta and her internship experience, so read on to hear more!

1. Explain your role at Questrade.

I work closely with people from both the Marketing and People & Culture departments as an Employer Branding Intern. In my role, I am actively involved in creating brand content for the Questrade website, blogs and articles, and candidate-facing communication. I also assist in the creation and management of social media content in collaboration with the social media team to promote employee events and CSR initiatives.??

2. What school do you go to and what is your program?

I am pursuing my Marketing Management course with Sheridan College Mississauga through which I’ve had the opportunity to be a part of Questrade as a co-op intern for the fall term. In my course, I am learning about various digital and content marketing strategies to promote brand awareness and drive traffic to websites.?

3. Why Questrade?

4. What did you enjoy most?

Here, at QFG I enjoy the flexible work culture that promotes collaboration with various teams across different departments. Whether I am working remotely or in person, it is always fun interacting with colleagues. The recurring wellness events and Friday virtual activities keep us engaged with our teams, even in our remote setup, which is great.?

5. A project you're most proud of?

I got the opportunity to work on multiple projects at QFG for employer branding. Creating culture-related content for the blog excites me! Especially when I see a full-fledged article ready to go live on our platform and I know that it will be viewed by external viewers. It makes me happy to contribute to the overall brand. Also, internal and external communication via email and social media has helped me gain experience in representing the brand, especially being part of the internal events of employees for engagement.

6. Tips for future interns?

Questrade is a great place to get hands-on experience in the fintech industry. Here, you not only get the opportunity to learn but also to implement the knowledge with challenges to overcome which will help you not just during the internship but also in your long-term career. This is a great place to work as you get to collaborate with experienced professionals and a welcoming culture.
