Intern or I.T.ern?
Ever wanted a glimpse into an IT internship at Hexagon US Federal? Well, look no further! My name is Jackson Rush, an intern in the IT department Hexagon US Federal’s Chantilly, VA Headquarters, and I am excited to give you a look into what my summer has been like.
Working at Hexagon US Federal has been an amazing experience to say the least. From the work life to the specialized intern meetings, you are bound to grow as a person and build great relationships. Also, the ceiling tiles here are shaped like hexagons! How cool is that? Now I have an excuse to stare up at the ceiling.
A Culture of Caring
Firstly, because of the intern meetings that are held, I have gotten to learn more about Hexagon US Federal as a company. One of the very honorable aspects of the company is that they are community-minded. They serve, volunteer, and care a ton about diversity and inclusion. This aspect reminds me a lot of my college which is why I wanted to attend there, so interning with a company that has the same drive to serve is a wonderful opportunity.

Getting to Work
I have also had the opportunity to sit in on project meetings and participate in working on them. For me, that is the best part. Being able to do work that is based on what I love to do and am currently studying in school and seeing how several branches of IT work is done practically instead of in a school setting is very fulfilling.
Role Model
Working under Yasin Rahman has really helped put IT into perspective as well, especially in terms of project management. Seeing how he communicates with his team, encourages them, and can laugh with them while still getting work done and meeting deadlines efficiently shows how great of an employee and leader he is, and it has been an honor to be mentored by him.
With that all being said, Hexagon US Federal’s mission, vision, and drive are all something I can get behind and push for too, and it has been an amazing experience working for them this summer.
