Intermountain Stands with New York

Intermountain Stands with New York

If actions speak louder than words, then the selfless acts of courage and service of our Intermountain caregivers are deafening. Below is my letter to the caregivers who are headed to New York to help with the pandemic.

I can’t fully express how proud I am of them and all our caregivers at Intermountain:

During my three and half years at Intermountain, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting thousands of our caregivers, including many of you. Over the last couple months, I can’t help but be reminded as to why so many of us joined Intermountain. There’s always been a common thread, but it’s far more apparent now. We’re all mission-driven caregivers.

You are the reason I remain optimistic as we all navigate a sea of dire headlines. This virus has ended lives, disrupted our way of life, and created new challenges for caregivers and communities every day. COVID-19 is our generation’s greatest test. When I see hundreds of our caregivers volunteer to travel to New York—the center of the storm—it reinforced to me that COVID-19 has met its match. Your sense of mission inspires us all and makes our colleagues and communities proud. Personally, I’ve never been prouder to lead this organization than over the last two months. Where else does one get to be inspired daily by so much innovation and courage? All of you embody the best of Intermountain’s caregiver culture.

As you embark on your latest mission, I want to make two requests. First, please share what you learn with the rest of our Intermountain team while you’re there and when you return. From Intermountain’s front lines to its leadership, we will all be better prepared and better leaders because of your experiences and learnings in New York. Second, and above all, please exercise the same commitment to safety and self-care as you always have. Like your friends and family, your Intermountain team’s primary concern will always be your safety and wellbeing.

On behalf of the communities we now care for across the country, thank you for your service. We look forward to welcoming you home.

We are continuously thankful for healthcare professionals!!
