Be interested...

What do I mean when I say, Be Interested?
I mean getting to know the people that you work with. This matters more than you realise.
For you to be able to push on in your career, you need to make sure you have a network of people that you can rely on for a variety of things.
This network should encompass everyone from the people who work in the post room (because you never know when you might need to get 100 kilos of Olympic weights delivered to work... ) to the CEO, because well, he is the CEo and will have a ton of knowledge you can use.
Building this network takes time and energy on your part, but it is so worth it.
Of course, easier said than done right?
You can't just rock up to someone and be like "hey, lets be BFF's ok?"
However, you can ease into it with a simple question.
"How is your day going?"
I specifically choose to use this question because if you say to someone "how's it going?", they are ready for that question.
They also will make the assumption that you are just being polite, you don't really care, and what you will get back some version of "yeah I'm good".
Most people will not be ready for "how is your day going?" and you will get some details from them that you can use to ask follow up questions.
You are immediately getting a glimpse into that persons world and there might be something in there that you can help with.
et voila, you've been interested!
Its a simple tool, but I promise you will find it useful.
So go on, go ask someone how their day is going!
Jump into my Facebook group once you have done it and let me know how it went.
