Denise Sandoval, PhD.

Meet Denise Sandoval, PhD., the guest-curator of Viva Viclas: The Art of the LowRider Motorcycle. She is curating CAM Raleigh's exhibition along with automotive historian Ken Gross. The exhibition will include ten lowrider motorcycles and 8 works of art celebrating lowrider culture. Denise is a Professor of Chicana and Chicano Studies at California State University, Northridge (2002 to the present). She received her doctorate in Cultural Studies from Claremont Graduate University (2003). Her work has made the exploration and celebration of lowriders an important cultural conversation. Denise was the guest curator/community researcher for three exhibitions on lowrider culture at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles (2000, 2007-08, and 2017-2018). Denise will be at CAM October 3-5 for the opening weekend and is so excited to help us bring this incredible exhibition to our community.

You can purchase tickets from CAM Raleigh at the door or on the CAMRaleigh.org website. As the Chairperson of CAM Raleigh I invite you all to attend what is to be a mind-altering experience (Transformative). Bring your camera as the selfies will be fresh and make you instantly famous! There will be a soft opening the evening before the public, if you are interested in joining Sara and me please email me. Thank you! Have a great summer.
