Within the last 3 days, I have had a conversation with over 100 people in my friend list regarding "THE 5GH CHARITY PROJECT" This project is to see friends who are familiar with the works of HEREAFTER GHANA (MY HEREAFTER PROJECT) donate 5 cedis monthly to support the running of the project.
Amazingly, we have seen almost 150 donors subscribe to be monthly donors and this number is still counting.
In personal conversations with these donors, I realised they had their own motivation. Some felt like "This is my chance to support a good cause as 5 cedis a month is surely something i can afford" They saw a gateway to charity. As a local fundraiser, you should be able to identify different gateways for your donors to feel part of the good cause and to this donor, this was his absolute chance.
Another donor said " My step father is deceased and this is my chance to do a good cause in his name, hopefully the Almighty will send light and mercies on him in his grave" a beautiful motivation to keep donating and for a donor who already has a motivation, you need to only be accountable and transparent enough to keep their motivation rising.

Avenues of donation also came up, as a donor reached out yesterday to ask how this money can be deducted automatically from their mobile money wallets to avoid forgetfullness along the line. This is when we decided to adopt the MTN Ghana app automatic subscription button. This will help put sustainability to this initiative as donors will not have to worry about setting reminders or worry about forgetfullness.
Various donors have their own motivation. As a development worker, you should find a way to let everyone align their motication, interest and intentions to your works and find roadmaps to sustainability.
I hope this was helpful. Enjoy your weekend.
