Last month, Stornaway welcomed our new Senior Front End Developer Fran Solo. Fran is an award-winning developer, having been named a TechWomen100 winner for her dedication to diversifying the technology industry and we're thrilled to have her onboard.
In this edition:
"Life is…" An interactive documentary
Inspired by award-winning indie game Life Is Strange, Chloe and Max (a.k.a. The Wonder Twins) used Stornaway.io to create an interactive documentary that investigates what makes it so compelling.
The project allows players to explore how the game was made and why it proved to be so popular from various perspectives. Choose between speaking to “Life Is Strange” music composer, actors and fans to expand your understanding of the game’s world and characters.
Storytelling lessons from Oscar-winning movie Everything Everywhere All At Once
The whole Stornaway team loved Everything Everywhere All At Once - but that wasn't the only reason why we cheered when it won the Oscar for Best Picture. For us, it proved that the way people want to consume media and stories is changing.
Audiences are looking for non-linear journeys that match their experiences of the world. There are some big learnings for storytellers in all industries and disciplines. Here are the key takeaways.
Shakespeare in four dimensions: The Illuminated Text
“Could we lift the hood and shine a light on Shakespeare’s intricacies so everyone can see them? And could we do it in a digitally disruptive way?”

Theatre practitioner, Rob Myles is using interactive video pieces to create greater accessibility towards Shakespeare's iconic texts. 'Illuminated Text' offers a deep dive into ‘Hamlet', highlighting Shakespeare's expertise in rhythm, emotion and language through eye-catching graphic art.
Stornaway Selects: Catwalk
“A cat on a lead?! I love this. You feel as if you are right there, in wintery Sweden. I like the crunch of the gravel and the simplicity.”
Each month, we'll be selecting a new Stornaway project to inspire and help get your creative juices flowing. In March, Co-CEO Kate selected ‘Catwalk' by Vincent from Linnaeus University. Take S?tis the Siberian cat on a Choose Your Own Adventure story and get exploring.?
Ru's Top Tips: Mix 360, standard video and still image in one project
Did you know that your story can be entirely 360o, or a mix of different media. Each Stornaway story island is self contained - so you can link from 360o to regular 16:9 video to stills in different story islands and it will all flow through seamlessly.?
Publish on the web, social media, direct to YouTube – and to VR devices via our Unity plugin (no coding required).
That's all folks! We'll be back next month. If you'd like to be featured in one of our newsletters, please get in touch with details of your project to [email protected].?
