Intentions.

Intentions.

A few years ago, I set out on a journey to become a yoga instructor.? I did not desire to become a yoga instructor to teach at a gym, my desire was to cultivate a deeper understanding of humanity and of myself.? My intense 200 hours not only got me in the best shape of my life physically, but it also expanded my perception of the world spiritually.

During our training, we had to meditate once a day, practice Ashtanga twice a day, practice gratitude daily and read a lot. I learned so much throughout this period of my life- how to regulate your breath, how to show gratitude and thankfulness, how to have faith in the present, how to tune out sensory input, how to tap into a deeper understanding of the self, how to let go, but most importantly to me, how to set an intention.?

At the beginning of every practice in yoga, you are taught to set an intention. The intention is personal, it is only relevant to you. It can be anything that moves you. The thing about intentions is that they start with you being introspective in the moment and you considering what you want to cultivate or bring awareness to in your practice. When you leave your mat, your intention lives in your subconscious, and you take it with you into your interactions with the world. Hence, you are a better human.

I used to set New Years Resolutions, but after my spiritual journey with yoga, I began starting my years with intentions. Working through intentions and coming to a word or phrase that guides me has helped me stay focused in times when my life is quite chaotic.

So today, I share with you my worksheet that helps me set an intention for the year. I encourage you to do some introspection, jot down a few ideas, and produce your own intention (word or phrase) for 2024. Once you have completed your worksheet, pin it by your desk or in your favorite notebook and check in often to see if you are on track with your yearly desires.

If you want me to send you a pdf, email me. [email protected]?

Wishing you all a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2024.

I love this Brigitte. Resolutions are so easily abandoned, taking the steps to be intentional about what we want and our actions will yield long-term growth and positivity in our lives. Thanks for sharing!
