Intentional Positive Growth
For quite sometime I have been in a progression to identify what it means to get better. My days have been spent reading and listening to a variety books, following other successful people and reviewing my own decisions and actions. There are a lot of commonalities within everything I have experienced. A lot of us go from good to good and miss opportunities to go from good to better. From this introspection and considerable thought, I have given myself a word to guide myself through 2020.
Intentional. Now at first glance, this may not seem like much of a word to use as a guide, but there is more impact within this adjective than you can imagine. Here is the definition: done on purpose and deliberate. This has the potential to be so empowering!
Here is my "why". Thought Behind the Word: Understand that we all think, speak and act based on our choices. Circumstances and environments can influence our choices. However, ultimately it is our own mindset; our own values; our own purpose to make the choices we make, if we are intentional about it.
So now that there is a word to guide and a why behind the word, what is next? Here is the "how" of intentional. This is the action that needs to take place in order to realize the word.
THINK, SPEAK, ACT INTENTIONAL ABOUT POSITIVE GROWTH.
For intentional to occur, what needs to happen? What do we do to prove our intentional? Here are three ways to make it happen through our "what".
Think - what you give attention, is what you fill your mind.
- Gratitude - identify daily what you have to be grateful.
- Opportunity - identify the opportunity in each problem.
- Envision - identify what it would look like to get steps closer to your goals each day.
Speak:
- Frame - listen to the words you speak. There is a difference between shame and guilt speak. You are not your mistakes or failures.
- Pause - before speaking, pause and ask is it true, is it helpful, is it inspiring, is it necessary, is it positive.
- Declaration - speak things as they can be, speak things as you want them to be.
Act:
- Read - make time to read, to fill your mind with opportunities.
- Believe - this action will set a course to guide you into making things happen.
- Write goals and take steps - look for ways to be better than the day before. Strive for better in your action. Good enough is not good enough.
Be intentional to make your thoughts become words, your words become actions and your actions become intentional positive growth. Let's continue to explore opportunities to Think, Speak and Act INTENTIONAL daily.
