Intentional Living
Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself

Intentional Living

If you are not intentional about the way you show up for yourself,?there is a good chance all that you will witness is incremental changes and?your life won’t be very different from how your parents lived.

WOW, this is not to sound derogatory in any way. But to remind us how we can adopt beliefs and be in our auto-pilot mode.

Hence, I made a mental note of this passage when I read the book ‘Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself,’ by Dr. Joe Dispenza, which is what led me to follow what beliefs drive my everyday decisions.?Also when we integrate change, it is easy to fall into the trap that I see no change despite being consistent in my efforts, and I would beat myself up hard instead of holding myself gently, not very elated about it. Hence, feel nudged to draw your attention in that direction.

Do note...

Before it becomes innate, the battle between the old you and the new?you will only get fierce-my journey from 'being docile' to 'speaking up for my needs' is a relevant example. Having played my part?you now know...

'Let Go, Let God.'?

Cultivate self-awareness, Embrace Inner Silence, Live in the Present Moment

Where am I getting to with this conversation?

Well, in this fast-paced world that is so full of distractions, if we don’t set the intention for our lives, distractions will set the intention for us.?By embracing the journey of self-discovery leveraging reflection tools, frameworks, the power of questions?you can live in harmony with your individual values.?Let’s align and be brave enough to make new choices.

For instance-While I said ‘Wellbeing’ was my number one value, I put Family first at all times and was pompous about saying ' You can’t pour from an empty cup,' but I hadn't put that to practice. While it is important to be there for others, you can’t abandon yourself. If you are saying 'yes to others' and saying 'no to yourself' that's your cue.

In that context having your self-care tool kit is a meaningful exercise. The answers to the following questions will help you formulate a plan of action that you can use when faced with a big life challenge.

  1. Who can I turn to for support when I am afraid? Who comforts me and makes me feel safe?
  2. Who adds to my anxiety level, overwhelms me with questions or has a tough time listening without interrupting? What will I do to stay unaffected by it?
  3. What does my body need to feel nurtured, strong and healthy?
  4. What unhelpful coping mechanisms do I need to avoid?
  5. What spiritual practice restores my faith or connects me with God or a Higher Power?
  6. What do I need to feel comforted at this time?
  7. What can I do when I need to take a break from the emotional stress? What’s my best healthy distraction?

Not everyone is brave enough to admit that they are sad or hurting, but I hope these questions get you to look beyond your discomfort so you can seek comfort and support.

My Spirit Guides are always there guiding me.

I hope you recognise you will find guidance if you are open to receiving it. I am big believer we are always learning, not just to help ourselves, but to be of service to others along the way. That is why adversities show up.?

As the saying goes, when you fall to the ground, it is you that has to push yourself against the ground to get up again. I am sure there are people to help and support but it’s really for you to show up for yourself.

Will you?
