Intentional DEI During the Age of Disruption

This past weekend, our team at the @DREAMHospitality.Org (Dedicated Recruitment for Hospitality Educational Equity) participated in Cornell Hotel Society 's Annual Hall of Fame event in New York City. DREAM Co-founder @Dan Fenton of @JLL’s Hotel & Hospitality Group and AHED participated in the DEI panel discussion by sharing DREAM’s concern about what has been happening more recently on university campuses, with other compassionate industry leaders Evan Frazier and Karim Abouelnaga, SHRM-SCP .

?Recent global and national events have spurred a rise of antisemitic, anti-Palestinian, and Islamophobic threats, violence and vandalism on university campuses. Their experiences mirror the broader issues of systemic injustice that DREAM seeks to address. These acts of hate, fueled by a complex mix of historical prejudice and current university policies, must be called out.

?As DREAM forges ahead in its advocacy, we do not wish to be silent bystanders to any form of injustice on campuses. DREAM recognizes that there are many marginalized communities facing discrimination and exclusion, and the organization believes that an attack on one is an attack on all. Discrimination in any form is a barrier to the collective progress we seek.

?We call on universities to confront hate and the insidious activity more vigorously, to ensure that academic spaces are bastions of inclusivity and safety for every student.
