I wake up to a daily personal update from my digital twin, Jude. My tailored exercise regime has been reorganised based on an overnight update of the dynamic software model of myself. My personal trainer has been contacted, and all is now scheduled in for the week. It's 0600. Slightly concerning though it that I also have a booked doctors appointment in the diary, Jude is worried about potential signs of arthritis in my wrist.

He also suggests what food I should be eating across the week to help me maintain my weight and fitness goals for the month. My virtual assistant bot, Geoff (don't ask), has coordinated similar updates with my wife and children's twins and we have a consolidated menu of meals and ingredients for the week. Shopping orders have been process, and our fresh food is due to be dropped off this evening. It's still 0600.

Geoff has reorganised my week (I've been asked to travel interstate overnight to present), and helped with the research and first draft for the presentation. He has alerted me that in order to make my 0800 meeting this morning, I will need an Uber as my usual autonomous bus is delayed due to further public sector strikes. I cancel the booking, as I decide to stay home and spend my day at the office via our augmented reality portal. Anyhow the 0800 meeting is being led via our new conversational system that now provides a live digital device mesh to track how the team is preforming across the project. It's 0605. I can enjoy the morning, help with getting the family ready. I'm on top of things.

You get the drift. The world is becoming an intelligent, digitally enabled mesh of people, things and services. Technology will be embedded in everything in the near future, and ordinary people (that's us) will experience a digitally-enabled world where the lines between what is real and what is digital blur.

Rich digital services will be delivered to everything, and intelligence will be embedded in everything behind the scenes. Gartner call this mesh of people, devices, content and services the intelligent digital mesh, and this forms the basis for their Top 10 Strategic Technology Trends for 2017. The mesh refers to the dynamic connection of people, processes, things and services supporting intelligent digital ecosystems. As the mesh evolves, the user experience fundamentally changes and the supporting technology and security architectures and platforms must change as well.

The 10 trends are most definitely worth a read (you will have to provide contact details). Or there is a summarised version in this Forbes article, where the below infographic of their key findings came from:
