Intelligent Automation a round-up

Intelligent Automation a round-up

In today’s world where data being the most valued asset of an organization, everyone is accelerating to tap into the data and make sense of it.

How do we tap into data while the data is not clean?

How do we make sense of data when we are overwhelmed with mundane repetitive tasks?

Applying automation at all possible stages is the key. Intelligent automation is the key in fact.

Data intake, processing and deriving insights are the key areas to focus.

  • Apply technology like IDP, that helps in bringing clean data into the system.
  • Process the data driven by rules and logic through integrations or RPA and move the work from multiple decision making value chain using BPM
  • Interpret and act on the data using AI/ML.

In my opinion, automation should be more of business-led than IT. Today, intelligent automation is influencing corporate strategy in every possible way. We need to learn what’s in it to embrace.

Automation is not about using discrete technology one or the other like RPA or Workflow automation or integrations or building custom applications or implementing COTS solutions. It is a holistic view of the automation needs that will transform your business operation and customer experience.

Intelligent Automation is a strategy that will help you look at the business needs from an end-to-end perspective where it suggests you perform automation at various levels as appropriate.

Today, organizations are using intelligent automation in some way or the other. But are you looking at it in a holistic manner?

The most interesting thing about Intelligent Automation is, it helps transformation across industry, business functions or areas of work. If you are not part of the bandwagon thinking or doing Intelligent Automation, you may be missing out on opportunities to increase your revenue, reduce cost per transaction, improve customer acquisition and retention etc.,

According to a Gartner 2019 poll, around 80% of finance leaders have implemented RPA or are planning to implement.

How can we achieve automation at scale?

Have a digital mindset

  • Consider end-to-end process orchestration
  • Start with processes that are well documented and rule based
  • Work with external consultants and thought leaders to climb up the learning curve faster
  • Build in-house skills

Take care of people

  • Build automation culture to improve adoption
  • Clarify to employees that automation is not to take away jobs, it is to eliminate nonvalue adds
  • Involve all your teams in brainstorming to prioritize automation needs

Move beyond siloed automation and stay competitive.
