If you’re new here, we celebrate the ways Intelligent Automation is?making our world more human. Check out the book that started it all.

This week’s 5 top stories we don’t want you to miss:

1?? [Future of work] The U.K. Department for Education's report identifies management consultants and business analysts as the jobs most vulnerable to AI, particularly in finance and insurance sectors.

  • Analyzing 365 jobs against AI applications like ChatGPT and Google Bard, the study found that professions involving clerical tasks in finance, law, and business management are highly susceptible to automation.
  • Conversely, hands-on and manual labor roles, such as sports players, roofers, and construction workers, are least likely to be affected by AI.

2?? [AI] The study by Hugging Face and Carnegie Mellon University found that generating AI images has a carbon footprint comparable to charging a smartphone, with image generation being more energy-intensive than other AI tasks.

  • Large models like ChatGPT require more energy than task-specific models.
  • The researchers advocate for transparency about the environmental impact of AI models.

3?? [AI] DeepMind's new AI learns tasks by observing humans, using a method that doesn't need pre-collected data, showing potential in robotics and customer service.

  • This technique, tested in the GoalCycle3D simulation, allows AI to remember and perform tasks independently.
  • However, it faces challenges like potential misinterpretation and the need for more complex testing scenarios.

4?? [Bank] JPMorgan Chase & Co. is generating significant revenue from AI, exceeding its $1B goal for 2023 and aiming for $1.5B, with applications like personalized advice and a GPT-powered adviser.

5?? [Law] In Porto Alegre, Brazil, City Councilman Ramiro Rosário used ChatGPT to draft a law against charging taxpayers for stolen water meters, which became the country's first AI-written legislation without the knowledge of other council members.

  • Rosário chose not to disclose the AI's involvement, fearing it might prevent the ordinance from being voted on.
  • The law, unanimously approved in October, took effect in late November, reflecting a growing trend of lawmakers, like in Massachusetts, using AI for legislative drafting.

The world "evolution" itself will fail any attempts in a long run. But , that`s not for us to see. We need more aggressive measures globally.
