One Solution to the Talent Gap: Citizen Developers

Given the shortage of workers in engineering and software development, the increased focus on low-code/no-code development makes sense. Using a drag-and-drop user interface, low-code/no-code platforms remove the need for extensive coding or expert-level knowledge of computer programming like JavaScript by providing the necessary components for non-technical business users to quickly build web and mobile applications without the assistance of skilled developers. The lowdown on low-code .

New Research Reveals Ongoing Cloud Security Problems

TechRepublic highlights results of the State of Cloud-Native Security Report 2023 from Palo Alto Networks. The speed of cloud deployment shows zero signs of decreasing. With more tools and confused employees, the potential holes for cybercriminals to exploit are there. In fact, this combination of complexity and need for overall security hampers cloud migration efforts. Top challenges include managing security holistically across teams; embedding security across the cloud-native development cycle; and training IT, development, and security staff to use security tools. Q&A: Hyland Expert Discusses the Power of Intelligent Automation in Banking

From the article; What is the biggest challenge to implementing intelligent automation and banks and credit unions?

SC:?The design is critical. Banks know what they want to automate, but if they don’t design the solution appropriately — if the fundamental architecture or the process flow lacks clearly defined success criteria — they’ve essentially automated a bad process. Without redesigning and rethinking the process itself, you’re stuck with an outcome that’s not a whole lot better than what you started with. Design is one of the biggest challenges, but it ultimately leads to the biggest success. More insights on IA and banking .

Disruption Optimization: Hybrid and Remote Working Don’t Work Without Workflow

Companies risk having a less-effective workforce when they ignore adapting their workflows to accommodate the new reality of work from home. From the article: “The risk of not having a workflow that is automated and optimized is the loss of business, the failure to meet customer expectations, or the reduction in the margins due to mistakes, delays, or variable operational costs. Workflow technology solutions are less sensitive to the market variabilities giving them a strong return on investment (ROI) that can be estimated prior to the selection and implementation in your organization.” Read more .

PepsiCo: Process Mining Both Proactive and Preventative for CPGs

PepsiCo used Celonis Process Mining and Execution Management to reduce spoilage and improve the distribution of finished goods in Latin America. The project, outlined on a Food Dive Webinar on process mining and tackling inefficiencies in consumer product goods (CPG ) companies, was detailed by Kishan Pandya, Senior Director of Process Re-Engineering, PepsiCo. Pandya was joined by Lindsey Peters, Celonis' Global Retail and Consumer Goods Industry Lead. This post recaps the webinar, including nuggets like this: Peters noted that the PepsiCo use case was just one area where process mining can solve business problems. After all, CPG companies have to efficiently procure and move raw materials, such as sugar, through supply chains and then distribute finished products. "EMS reveals and fixes inefficiencies and connects data across processes with a 360-degree view," said Peters. "EMS doesn't replace systems but acts as an orchestration." Read more .

Intelligent Automation vs. Robotic Process Automation Understanding the Differences

Both RPA and, more recently, IA are technologies that have seen an accelerated adoption rate, due to their proven capabilities. They are also both used to reduce operational costs, enhance customer satisfaction, and increase overall performance across functions. In their own way, RPA and IA are reshaping modern work and our entire perception of it. Many compare the effects of automation to those of the industrial revolution, and by looking at how much things have changed in business over the past ten years, it is a fair comparison. Understand the difference between RPA and intelligent automation .
