Intelligence
"Intelligence" - one of the unending quest of mankind to prove itself different and distinguish itself from other species that inhabit this planet.
While i or for that matter nobody is a proven expert on this topic but the recent debate i hear in the news media channels about experiments - open and 'confidential' (i have some experience with that) being done to gather more insights have made me write this article.
My first experience with the so called AI (artificial Intelligence) phenomenon was while watching science-fiction movies during undergraduate and later on graduate studies and some later on. While they do stretch your imagination quite a bit but the point of the matter is AI as it stands today irrespective of the definition we choose to employ cannot surpass human intelligence.
Over a decade or so back i held the opinion that AI can be superior to human intel if it is able to come-up with other entities like itself that can perform things better than what it does. I even remember sharing the same on a car ride with a friend after returning from watching a movie. Just like human who invented computers that help us do tasks much better than we can in some facets of life. The day computers can create other machines by themselves that can do things better than what they do they would be superior to us.
All this hype about some Google experiments with AI games is more of a publicity and profit making exercise.
The question that will AI surpass human intelligence will only happen that day when AI can create entities like itself machine or otherwise that are better than itself in a particular task and so far only humans have such demonstrated capabilities.
