InteliNeo Supports Any Gen-set Control

InteliNeo 6000 and InteliNeo 5500 microgrid controllers now have a new Universal Gen-set Support feature. This feature enables customers to install renewable energy sources like PV and BESS, controlled by InteliNeo, while still keeping their existing gen-set control systems, which can seamlessly communicate with and be supervised by InteliNeo. This new feature will be available in firmware versions 1.5 and 1.2 for the InteliNeo 6000 and 5500, respectively.

"With Universal Gen-set Support, customers can optimize the use of PV & BESS to reduce fuel consumption and peak demands without replacing the existing genset controllers. This provides customers with flexible and scalable options when designing their microgrid," says Wendy Truong, Product Manager for InteliNeo at ComAp.

InteliLite Controllers: Hybrid Control for Single Gen-set Systems

The latest firmware update 1.6.0 for InteliLite AMF 25 and InteliLite MRS 16 opens new possibilities for single-gen-set systems, including the ability to monitor a backup battery or PV system. This enhancement broadens the scope to telecommunication, rental, and other industries that typically utilise single-gen-set backup support.

The new firmware enriches genset operation with detailed insights into backup battery metrics such as voltage, charging current, state of charge, and/or total capacity. This enables a gen-set controller, for example at a telecommunication site, to communicate with a battery and coordinate the power flow within the microgrid. During a power outage, the InteliLite 4 controller takes a measured approach, activating the genset only when the backup battery reaches a predefined discharge threshold.

Hybrid Microgrid for an Egyptian Community

ComAp recently collaborated with our partner, United for Electromechanical Supplies, on a hybrid microgrid for a community development project in New Cairo, Egypt. Better Home Group wanted to upgrade the community’s power supply system by installing 500 KVA photovoltaics with four Huawei KTL inverters to reduce the community’s dependency on diesel. United for Electromechanical Supplies, with the support of ComAp, implemented a hybrid control panel featuring the InteliGen 500 Microgrid controller alongside an InteliFieldbus Gateway, with WebSupervisor monitoring and management service.
