Intel IQ: 2024 Midyear Recap
AI continues to change how we work and engage across nearly every aspect of our lives. ?At Intel, we’re raising the bar by enabling new levels of performance, manageability, and security in our commitment to truly bring AI everywhere. At the midpoint of 2024, we’re highlighting our most impactful moments and accomplishments.
Intel Vision 2024 – Bringing AI Everywhere
Armed with the fact that only 10% of enterprises successfully moved GenAI projects into production last year , we intentionally set out to address challenges and drive confidence. At Intel Vision 2024 , we announced a comprehensive AI strategy to fuel the deployment of secure GenAI systems with open, scalable AI systems across the enterprise with Red Hat, VMware, and other industry leaders.
We also unveiled Intel Gaudi 3 AI accelerators which, according to ML Perf benchmark results, deliver an average of 50% better inference and 40% better power efficiency, than Nvidia H100, and at a lower price point. Intel Gaudi 3 AI accelerators will be available from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), like Dell Technologies, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Lenovo, and Supermicro, broadening the AI data center market offerings for enterprises.
First Foundry for the AI era
AI is one of the hottest topics on the planet, but many conversations are rooted in whether the manufacturing infrastructure exists to keep pace with demand. As one of the few companies in the world that does both leading-edge design and in-house semiconductor manufacturing, Intel is addressing this challenge head-on.
This year, we launched Intel Foundry, the world’s first systems foundry for the AI era . Intel Foundry also unveiled a roadmap, featuring Intel 14A process technology, specialized node evolutions, and new Intel Foundry Advanced System Assembly and Test (ASAT) capabilities to help customers realize their AI ambitions. Intel’s systems foundry approach offers full-stack optimization from the factory network to software, delivered from a resilient, more sustainable and secure source of supply.

Partnering with the U.S. Government??
The groundwork has been laid and we’re working together with the U.S. government to ensure AI makes it into the hands of companies and families everywhere. In fact, President Joe Biden was at our Ocotillo campus in March to announce up to $8.5 billion in direct funding to Intel from the U.S. Department of Commerce under the U.S. CHIPS Act.
This funding will help advance Intel’s critical semiconductor manufacturing, research, and development projects at sites in Arizona, New Mexico, Ohio, and Oregon. It marks the single-largest grant associated with the CHIPS Act to date. Coupled with our plan to invest more than $100 billion right here on American soil over five years, it’s one of the largest public-private investments ever made in the U.S. semiconductor industry. And it’s helping power the next great chapter of American innovation.??
In April, the U.S. Department of Defense followed by awarding Intel Foundry Phase Three of its Rapid Assured Microelectronics Prototypes - Commercial (RAMP-C) program . RAMP-C is a critical project for the security of U.S. military systems and platforms. This phase advances the tape-out and testing of early defense industrial base product prototypes. It signifies a critical milestone for the program that highlights the readiness of Intel 18A process technology, intellectual property, and ecosystem solutions for high-volume manufacturing.
Corporate Responsibility
As we lead the industry and ecosystem through innovation and technological advancement, we’re committed to building our business with sustainability at the core. In May, we outlined that progress in our 2023-24 Corporate Responsibility Report .
We’re proud of the fact that, in 2023, we used 99% renewable electricity across our global operations. We’re working with suppliers, customers, and industry peers to develop the next generation of sustainable processes and products. We have our sights set on being the most sustainable foundry in history, future-proofing supply chains, and building open ecosystems — all while maintaining high ethical standards in everything we do.
With the recent announcement of Intel Xeon 6 processors , we continue to build momentum as we enter the second half of 2024. Our engineering is moving industries and the world forward. Our?openness and innovation are empowering?others to embrace limitless opportunities. Our commitment to transparency and trust is building a resilient future for all. It starts with Intel.
