Intel IQ: 2023 Recap

Intel IQ: 2023 Recap

From autonomous vehicles and medical equipment to everyday devices like laptops, smartphones, and wearables, the desire to incorporate computing power into every facet of our lives has never been greater. And semiconductors have become such a critical ingredient to delivering on those expectations — even more so with the rise of AI. This year has been marked by a series of moments that demonstrate our ongoing commitment to moving the world forward in the digital age:?

Launch of 4th Gen Intel? Xeon? + Max?Series processor?

We opened the year with the unveiling of the 4th Gen Intel? Xeon? Scalable processors, Intel? Xeon? CPU Max Series, and Intel? Data Center GPU Max Series. 4th Gen Xeon processors deliver leading performance with the most built-in accelerators of any CPU on the market, while the entire family of products helps customers tackle their most important computing challenges across AI, analytics, networking, security, storage, and HPC. It marked a pivotal moment in paving Intel’s path to leadership in the data center and growing our footprint in new arenas.?

Pushing forward in the footsteps of Gordon Moore?

In March, we celebrated?the life of Gordon Moore and the legacy he left behind. An icon in the digital age and one of the co-founders of Intel, his accomplishments continue to inspire our company and innovators?around the world every day. As stewards of?Moore’s Law, we remain committed?to accelerating more powerful computing at an?exponential pace and we’re on track to deliver five nodes in four years. Gordon established our commitment to environmental sustainability during a time when it was not yet commonplace. Both Gordon and his wife, Betty, were avid philanthropists, leading them to found the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. ?On Dec. 12, we mourned the loss and?celebrated the life and legacy of Betty Moore.?Not only did she champion Gordon Moore's vision for Intel, she leveraged its powerful achievements to make a measurable impact in the world, especially in the realm of healthcare.

Deepening our commitment to sustainability ?

This year, we stepped beyond our existing goal to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across our global operations by 2040 by announcing our intention to achieve net-zero upstream emissions by 2050. We also published our Climate Transition Action Plan, a detailed roadmap for how we plan to achieve these and other goals. As part of these efforts, we are on track to achieve 95% renewable electricity across our global operations in 2023, while maintaining 100% in the US, EU, Israel, and Malaysia. Because we believe leadership will be the most critical component to driving sustainable transformation, Intel also developed and launched the Sustainable CTO initiative, which details the important role Chief Technology Officers play in aligning business strategy, technology, and sustainability in the push toward Tech Positive. ?

Welcome to the Siliconomy?

AI represents a generational shift in computing that, along with compute, sensing, connectivity, and more, is giving rise to what we dubbed the Siliconomy during our Intel Innovation 2023 event in September. It’s a new era powered by silicon, where semiconductors are essential to enabling modern economies. There is an industry-wide opportunity to support the strong demand and reliance on semiconductors to enable everyday life, advancement, and business growth. For example, we are investing heavily to strengthen the global supply chain, with the recent opening of two leading-edge chip factories in Ohio, a fabrication facility in Ireland, and expansions in Poland, Germany, and beyond. And we are turning the idea of a world-class, open system foundry into a reality. It is about building better solutions, increasing opportunity across the Siliconomy, and improving everyday lives.?

Intel's Pat Gelsinger rings NASDAQ Bell: Unveiling 5th Gen Intel? Xeon? & AI PCs powered by Intel? Core? Ultra Processors?

The eyes of the world were on Intel on Dec. 14 as CEO Pat Gelsinger rang the iconic bell at NASDAQ MarketSite Studio in Times Square, unveiling a full spectrum of offerings designed to bring AI everywhere. The introduction of the new 5th Gen Intel? Xeon? creates the opportunity for customers to tap into the cloud and large data centers to handle demanding AI workloads without the need for discrete accelerators. Simultaneously, we ushered in the age of AI PC with the announcement of the Intel? Core? Ultra processor. With dedicated AI hardware built into every chip, customers can now create art, make music, work smarter, and synthesize knowledge in new ways, right from their desktop or PC. It’s the latest example of how we’re working to provide customers flexibility and choice in a secured, hybrid environment across workloads in the data center, network to PCs, and at the edge.

For more than 50 years, Intel has had a profound influence on the world, driving business?and society forward with radical innovation. From the invention of the very first programmable microprocessor to the Xeon processor, we helped usher in the digital age. But the way we all live continues to change exponentially — and every one of our key 2023 moments detailed above serves as testament to our brand anthem — “It starts with Intel.” ?

I do research and develop Computer Design. My ex-employer System and Software Incorporated has an Intel Contract. I would like to obtain the Intel Books on Microprocessors and hopefullly hear from Intel Corporation. I did my graduate studies in EE at UCI 1984 and graduate studies in CMSI at LMU 1988. I would like to read more and studied Microprocessor Design. Also, I need a compiler for VHDL Verilog Hardware Description Language and need information on Intel chipsets for the motherboard, I have an interest in parallel and distributed computing systems and multiprocessing computing systems.
