Integrity in action!
It seems like each day, I receive at least one challenge against my dedication to work or personal standards, integrity regarding decisions and actions, or for my expectation of delivering superior customer service. These challenges have come from peers, via personal relationships, and/or from strangers and business interactions. Often, these challenges come as requests to lessen a standard, to accept a form of inferiority, or to take short cuts under the guise of improvement. These actions go against my better judgement, upbringing, my personal moral compass and actually relate to various forms of favoritism for the potential of getting one’s own way.
I have viewed these attempts as simply benign to a subversive tactic to undermine reliability and customer-driven solutions. How I choose to respond defines my character and how I value others. As a leader, I strive to be above reproach. To lead by example. I’m encouraged when other leaders, at work and in my personal life, stand up for what’s right. Our actions though, require deliberate and measurable responses to be effective and long-standing.
Trust, customer satisfaction, and success, to name a few tangible metrics, drive business growth. Failure to deliver or to deliver an inferior product undermines the client’s trust, satisfaction and ultimately our success.
It’s important to hold true to your ideals, morals and integrity. These qualities are the fabric of who I am, who you are and how we will work together. Saying no to an easy but compromising win may be hard, but the result is satisfaction beyond words - keeping true to my core belief system.
