AIR6500 is the Royal Australian Air Force’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that maximises the sensor capabilities offered by 5th Generation systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, improving situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making in the joint engagement zone.

We’re looking for a highly skilled candidate to lead systems architecture/engineering for the AIR6500 open, micro-service-based integration framework solution. This role requires the defining of the infrastructure solution and interfaces in architectural model, performing of analysis-of-alternatives study to evaluate software approaches, working closely with the software team to develop integration framework prototype solutions, developing BOEs and authoring RFI and RFT tech volume inputs plus much more – you will not be bored!
Key Skills required:
- Demonstrated leadership in system software architectures
- Knowledge of software containerisation and micro-service technologies
- Commercial and military data standards/protocol familiarisation
- Model-based engineering experience
- Superior analysis skills
- Demonstrated experience working on large complex programs
- Ability to communicate effectively at the highest level
You will ideally have a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (Systems Engineering etc.) from a recognised institution, and/or equivalent experience/combined education.
This is a challenging role, that requires a passionate and hardworking individual that has a proven track record in a similar role within a large and highly complex environment.
