Integrating participant profile information into real-time collaborations

Integrating participant profile information into real-time collaborations

An apt invention for the modern world, the patent was created in 2009 and documented here. This invention addresses the problem whereby, in a virtual engagement scenario, the competencies and capabilities of the attendees are not known. This results in the situation whereby often the most expressive participant can dominate the conversation. People of high competency may be less likely to engage, thereby devaluing the potential outcomes of the virtual session. The idea is as follows:

An online collaboration system can access data in one or more skills repositories to search for participants with indicated skills and automatically display participants' skill information during online collaborations. Searching for participants by skill allows individuals most likely to add value to a discussion to be identified and invited to an online collaboration. Displaying skill information can facilitate focused interaction leading to a more productive online collaboration.

Based on what we've been through in 2020, wouldn't it be nice if this system was implemented in accordance with identity or access management solutions, or maybe this is a new feature that LinkedIn could provide to collaboration partners? Perhaps an acquisition is required - but at the same time please make sure that you work on open standards for online collaboration tools so we can all use our tool of choice and not have to have 5-6 on our systems ;-)

I was about to say "that'd be a great idea", but then remembered it is a great idea - hence a patent. But, does it allow for Dunning-Kruger? ??
