Integrating Elements of Positive Peace in Global Development Projects
Too often the concept of peace building is narrowly associated with merely reducing conflict between nations. While this is no doubt an important facet of peace building, the elements of positive peace are much more localized - they affirm human dignity, the notion of abundant value and worth of all people, creating stable conditions in which people can thrive. Foundations often fall short in supporting peace building and in integrating important elements of positive peace in their grant projects. Positive peace can expand impact and support sustainability of philanthropic projects. Without their beneficial influence, efforts at effecting social change will fall short of expectations and rarely survive the weight of hemeostatic forces that naturally resist change.
