Integrated healthcare

Yesterday Jo Vandeurzen and Stef Steyaert presented their book “Ge?ntegreerde zorg”, about an integrated healthcare system.
From a digitalization point of view, I was looking for standard and lean processes. I’m thankful to say that the panel discussions changed my point of view completely. Digitalization will be one of the keys to a more integrated healthcare system, but not to create efficiency gains or enforce processes. Digitalization should support collaboration between caretakers.
My two main takeaways of the evening:
1.??????“It takes one person who holds on”
One of the biggest frustrations of people that need the healthcare system is that they have to tell their story over and over again to every caretaker they meet. Their story is not shared, which lead to critical information loss. Healthcare is about people, and each person needs a tailor-made approach for their specific case. Data sharing between caretakers and patients can still be improved, in order to offer a more personal care.
2.??????Today IT suppliers have to wait for a specific development demand to reach them. Setting up systems of co-creation between IT- and healthcare professionals could speed up the innovations in the industry and create disruptive, human-centric solutions.?
