Welcome to the inaugural edition of my newsletter, where I introduce a groundbreaking approach to Executive Branding - one that’s both comprehensive and seamlessly integrated. In each issue, I’ll share valuable insights and strategies designed to elevate your leadership impact and drive success in your team projects. Let’s embark on this journey to transform the way you lead and inspire.

15 years ago, a senior leader in one of my keynote audiences in the UK remembered some words I said that day, and they stuck with him over the years. Those words were; 'Do you know what people say about you behind your back?'.

In July 2023, that senior leader called me. His name is Robert Nicklin, now Chief Growth Officer for a global leader in food services, based in Canada. His words were along the lines of; 'I'm embarking on a major transformational growth journey to take us to $..... in 2026. I realise (spelled the English way as he's British too!) that we need more than amazing processes, tools, and strategies to succeed; we need the mindset and behaviours of our entire team to be elevated and in alignment. I would like you to work alongside me to help us achieve our goal'.

Of course I jumped at the chance to immerse myself into such an exciting project with a highly inspiring and successful leader.

18 months later the team have evolved and progressed to an incredible level of cohesion and collaboration, and the journey is more than on track to success. Rob's leadership is a dream to observe and we still have exciting work to do in 2025 and beyond.

Rob recognized from the start the critical role his leadership—and that of his team of VPs - would play in the project's success. He understood that how they managed their executive brands and guided their teams would be key to achieving their goals.

This is where integrated executive branding takes center stage, leading to the launch of this newsletter. It's crafted to provide you with actionable insights to elevate your leadership, enhance your projects, and amplify your executive brand tenfold.

Q:? Lesley, do you have any advice for medical doctors moving to NED / not-for-profit executive roles on personal branding? I don't really know where to start.

A: The best general advice I can give you without knowing more about you is to focus on your areas of business wisdom and expertise that are transferable to an NED role in a specific sector. What are the key elements of your brand that stand out - both personal traits and skills that would benefit the organization. Then create a succinct paragraph or brand statement that you can use in an email or modify for your LinkedIn About Statement.

A good book to read that helps with how we transfer wisdom from previous careers is Strength to Strength by Arthur C Brooks. While it's really about finding happiness and purpose in the 2nd half of life, I've found it incredibly insightful for moving through our careers too.
