Integral Care Opens Bungalows at Century Park, a New Permanent Supportive Housing Community for Individuals Experiencing Homelessness

I am delighted to share the news that on November 1st, Integral Care opened our newest Permanent Supportive Housing community, Bungalows at Century Park. This 60-unit studio apartment community in North Austin is for single adults experiencing chronic homelessness and a disabling condition in Travis County. ?

I am deeply appreciative to the City of Austin and Austin Housing Finance Corp for collaborating with us on this project. It was an honor to join Austin Mayor Kirk Watson, Austin Mayor Pro Tem Leslie Pool, City of Austin Housing Strategy Officer David Gray, and Housing and?Community Development Officer at Austin Housing Finance Corp, James May, at an opening celebration for the new community. I appreciate their advocacy, investment of resources, and the sharing of expertise to make this project a success.

Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) is a strategy that combines affordable housing with intensive coordinated services. It helps people experiencing homelessness get and keep housing that is safe, affordable, and integrated into the community. Under the PSH model, residents at Bungalows at Century Park will have support including case management, access to primary and mental health care and a food pantry, peer support, substance use treatment, and employment services.

November is National Homelessness Awareness Month. Homelessness, mental health challenges, and substance use problems are often connected, and we know that for those facing mental health challenges, lack of stable housing can worsen symptoms. With a safe place to live and support services, recovery can begin, and individuals can reach their full potential.
