InsurTech weekly 452 ?? Are these trends strong enough to push forward innovation in car insurance?

Hi All,

First of all, let me welcome those who joined us recently. To keep growing, please spread the word: comment, like, share this newsletter ??

This week, I shared a McKinsey report that sparked extensive discussions on innovation in car insurance. The report (read below) delves into various trends within the mobility space that could potentially impact the insurance value chain. A prevalent sentiment from the discussions is the recognition that many of the outlined roadmaps in the report have been previously explored. This prompts the question: Is there anything distinctive in the current landscape to suggest that innovation could indeed materialize in this market, or are we bound to encounter the same challenges as in the past, albeit in different technological environments? I don't think so. Obviously !

Below, you'll find the three most engaging articles from this week. They are about insurance & risks innovation, FinTech comparables and tech trends worth a look.

The problem with embedded finance in the UK was that the economy didn't work on card interchange. Instead, the opportunity in the UK is getting a payments license (EMI) and partnering with the new wave of banks that offer “embedded banking.”

3?? Technology is key in HR culture !

In today's professional landscape, characterized by intensive use of technology, IT tools play a central role in employee productivity and well-being. However, it is striking that many business leaders do not pay sufficient attention to these tools, an aspect that is nevertheless crucial to the success of their organization. According to a 2023 Omdia study, executives are only involved in a third of new technology purchases. Let’s look at some of the reasons why it’s critical for leaders to engage on this topic.

Florian Graillot very insightful article about disruption in mobility industry. I'm sharing similar considerations in my article. Obviously it will take time when 'Teslas' and 'Ubers' of tomorrow win the race with traditional insurers but the race has already started. Autonomous cars, when adopted globally, will totally change the landscape in car insurance. https://www.dhirubhai.net/posts/danutazukowska_mobility-insurance-insurtechs-activity-7040660674225528832-wAYf?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_android
