(part 1 of 2) - I am pleased that you acknowledge that we now have a 2nd wave in insurtech - 'Insurtech 2.0' and we should be learning from it. From the perspective of the insurtech startup - a major lesson to be learned is embracing Open APIs (e.g., OPIN). The rapid growth of API calls in other financial sectors, e.g., Open Banking (pic below) clearly shows the growth of fintech in banking-related startups.
