Insurtech Insights Unpacked

Insurtech Insights Unpacked

We caught up with Genasys' Business Developer for EMEA, John Omoya, who recently attended the Insurtech Insights Conference for the first time. Here he discusses the value of the impromptu, the rise of AI and the vast number of learning opportunities that the event offered.

Q: Could you share your overall impressions of the Insurtech Insights Conference?

John Omoya: The event was quite impressive. Despite the unexpected high number of vendors, it provided a platform for meaningful conversations with insurance carriers. The interactions were valuable, offering insights and allowing us to gather significant information about both our prospective partners and the sector as a whole.

Q: Were there any noticeable trends among the vendors at the conference?

John Omoya: Yes, a prominent theme was the focus on AI technologies, without doubt. Many vendors highlighted their AI capabilities, which seems to be the buzzword within the insurance sector. It’s clear that AI is a significant focus for the future of insurance technology.

Q: How did the event facilitate networking and partnerships?

John Omoya: The conference was a great opportunity for finding like-minded companies. Many vendors were open to partnerships, looking to combine their services with ours to enhance offerings and solve specific industry problems. It seemed like there was a real spirit of collaboration, with companies eager to find complementary solutions to expand their reach and strengthen their propositions.

Q: What were some highlights from the event?

John Omoya: The layout and the organisation on our floor were excellent, creating a comfortable environment for discussions. Also, the live demo of our platform, Genesis Unify, was well-received, engaging attendees and sparking interest and giving us the opportunity to receive real-time feedback on the latest version of our platform.

Q: Did the conference offer any new insights or learning opportunities?

John Omoya: Interacting with high-level decision-makers from major organisations was incredibly beneficial. These are connections difficult to make through usual outreach efforts. The face-to-face meetings provided a unique opportunity to engage in high-value conversations, but more importantly to learn about them, their needs and the unique challenges they're facing in today's market.

Q: Looking back, is there anything you'd do differently at future events?

John Omoya: As a first-timer at the event, everything was quite new to me. However, I learned the importance of pre-arranged meetings and the unexpected value in impromptu conversations at our booth. Going forward, balancing pre-scheduled meetings with the opportunity for spontaneous discussions will be key whilst I'd also like to find more time away from the both to visit other vendor's stands and to attend the various talks throughout the day, which looked fascinating.

Q: Any final thoughts on the importance of events like Insurtech Insights?

John Omoya: Beyond just selling, it's crucial to remember these events are also about learning, asking questions, and collaborating. Finding a way to participate in both booth activities and discussions can enhance the overall experience, making it more fruitful for attendees and vendors alike.
