Insurance, Technology My Dad and Jimmy Saville.

Insurance has had an incredible impact on my life. Most people don’t realise how important insurance is or more importantly the terms and conditions of an Insurance contract and how it can impact your life and that of your family.?

My passion has always been technology and how it can enable creativity and disruption. As a child I was spending hours reading computer magazines with examples of code and troubleshooting the examples in the faint hope I may have a computer to actually type the code and execute and assess my thinking.?

It’s worth noting we didn’t have smart phones and the technologies of today, some of the precursors such as video cameras etc were preserved to media companies etc so the only digital evidence of my father and indeed the only video and audio evidence of his existence is the video above where he he was in a horrific motor accident with his heavily pregnant wife, and the now disgraced television presenter Jimmy Saville was preying on damaged people immediately after their accident for an advertising campaign to improve motor safety.?Wierdly i am incredibley grateful of this, as all i would have is my broken memory. Technology enables us amongst other things to hold a keepsake of those we cherish.

Wierdly amongst all his failings Jimmy Saville USED to drive adoption of some technology and encourage people to use risk mitigiation technology "The seatbelt". In Stoke Mandeville Hospital Jimmy Saville exploited my father in the worst of circumstances but following a horrofic accident my mother was encouraged to sue her now paralysed husband because of the level of insurance they had.?Insurance impacted my life before I was even born, but it never stopped stopped challenging my family. I will never stop challenging insurance to make it better!?
