Congress approved a deal to fund the government temporarily, but only until November 17. Highlights from an Insurance Journal article:

-Private Flood Insurer Neptune has already seen a 20% increase in sales

-NFIP has only $2.4 billion set aside for claims. After that no claims will be paid out.

-Even if a long term deal is struck, there are questions about the viability of the NFIP moving forward.
