What's going on in Insurance?
I read this FT article this week, shedding light on the recent trend of insurers like Aviva, Canada Life, and Royal London making significant acquisitions in the UK protection market which has raised concerns about reduced competition and client choice.
It appears that these moves are driven by low company valuations and the desire to realign their business strategies. Despite this, it's essential to recognise the disconnect between stock prices and the financial strength of insurance companies, which generally maintain healthy balance sheets.
While rising bond yields might trigger market fears of a recession and credit risks, the insurance industry seems to be better positioned to weather these challenges, given their robust capital coverage ratios and limited credit risk. As the market continues to evolve, it's crucial for both insurers and clients to adapt and navigate the changing landscape of the UK insurance recruitment market.
