Instructions On Self-Regulation

I got a real taste of that cold wind this morning while out trying to get a big plastering of crow 'shite' cleaned off the driver's side window of my vehicle. I thought with my having taken it thru the car wash early this morning would've cleaned it off, but since it had been there since late yesterday afternoon, only about half of it came off. When I arrived at office, I slipped on a pair of plastic gloves, grabbed a roll of paper towel along with a strong cleaning solution and headed back out to get it off. Well, as many know, when it dries, it's like trying to get dried gum off of something. I finally had to grab a plastic spoon and scrape it off the window and the rubber seal below. Oh how I despise crows and their dirty 'fly-over' habits of dumping. I'm almost positive my car got nailed while it was parked at the rear of my office, because those devils are always looking for a place to roost as sundown approaches.

After getting several late-arriving bills paid, it was time for me to head out to show a home to a buyer I've been working with. I got there early enough to get a good look at it myself before the buyer arrived, and after we did our full investigation, I made the comment that it was likely one of the better ones we've seen. I could sense there was strong interest, so I recommended it be considered and to let me know if I should write an offer on it.

As soon as I locked the house, I drove over to my listing at 315 Parkridge Drive to get my yard sign pulled and the lockbox removed from the front door, and of course I was again having problems with that contraption, and thank goodness I was able to get it removed from the doorknob and later returned to our Multiple Listing office and have it taken off my office's list of available lockboxes. I did mention I'm growing all the closer to ordering my own boxes from a different vendor because I've had nothing but trouble with them since they added a phone 'app' which was supposed to make our job of accessing homes easier. Nuts to that idea.

About a half hour later I was seated at the conference table of our closing company while getting the sale of that home finalized. I did mention to the buyer that I had at least three people ready to buy it if it fell thru, which I'm sure made her feel all the better about purchasing it. Yes, I now wish I had a half dozen of those homes listed because I believe they'd all be under contract in less than a week.

The closing that followed was another slam-dunk because it was a cash sale and everything had already been delivered to the closing company days earlier. Since it was a very quick closing, I took time to visit with the buyers and the closing agent whom I'd not seen in some time.

Once those two closings were over, I spent then next hour delivering closing statements and proceeds checks to those two sellers, and since one of them now lives in Clear Lake, I had to get on the road all the sooner, just so I'd be there at the time we agreed upon. Thank goodness a relative of the seller was also there, just so there were two sets of ears listening to what I had to say, along with seeing me personally deliver a proceeds check. After a short but good visit, I headed back to the city to get those two closed files finished up and sent to my 'closed' filing cabinet.

I finally had time to call one of my prospective sellers to see how things were going with getting her home readied for sale. I was glad to hear she's progressing along, so I'm now all the more confident it'll be hitting the market sometime next month. Of course getting people rounded up to make small repairs, has become all the more difficult in these times, but at least one of the things she's needing to have done, I'll personally take care of, and not have another worker making a small task appear to be a big dollar job. Yes, we all know the likes of such mindsets.

Because my future seller and I share the same feelings about what's happening with our elections and the nonsense that's taking place in Congress, we both spilled our guts regarding the lack of decorum during Biden's State of the Union address last night. Of course I had to mention how much Marjorie Taylor Green reminds me of a screaming shaved monkey wearing a blond wig. I had to laugh when she calmly said, “You know Joe, now that you mention it, she does remind me of a monkey, and just so you know, I have a deep hatred of them.” Too funny!

After I hung up, I began thinking about how potty-mouthed some of our so-called 'respected' members of Congress have become, which has left me to believe they must've been raised in a barn because good parents would've taught them basic manners as children, so it looks like those Congressional hecklers weren't given even the basic instructions on self-regulation. Have you noticed how many people in these times, interrupt others when they're speaking? It's really becoming a very dirty habit as far as I'm concerned. Interjection is appropriate at times, but not disruptive interrupts. You can be sure I have to bite my tongue more often than I want to admit when others cut-in on me.

At the end of the day, I'm both thankful and grateful over getting those two closings taken care of, and the both of them ending up as 'soft landings', so now I'll be back out beating the bushes for new listings. If you know of anyone who's thinking about selling, please have them give me a call.

Tonight's One-liner is: There is nothing in the whole frame of humanity which seems to me so unaccountable as that thing called conscience.
