I'm writing this piece to help the society understand that the onus of the security and safety of our kids rests with the below 3 stakeholders - PRIMARILY. The Law, Police & Government all come in at a later stage.
In recent months, the safety and security of our youth within institutional campuses have come under the spotlight due to a concerning increase in crimes such as sexual abuse, rape, bullying, and drug abuse. Against this backdrop, it becomes even more crucial for the key stakeholders involved in nurturing the next generation to uphold their roles diligently. Let's dive into the responsibilities and contributions of these stakeholders amidst the escalating institutional crimes:
1. Parents: As the first point of contact for their children in times of distress, parents play a pivotal role in safeguarding their young ones from potential dangers. With crimes like sexual abuse and bullying on the rise, parents are entrusted with the paramount task of fostering traits of care, trust, and respect in their children to shield them from harm within institutional settings. The foundation to a #SecurityCulture will need to start from home, with the foundation stones of Care, Dependability, Trust, Integrity & Respect, being laid by the parents.
Most parents instil FEAR into their kids while addressing how their response & interaction should be against strangers. The reason for this is fear is only because the parent doesn't understand the elements of security and they don't understand how FEAR can become the biggest vulnerability in their child's life.
2. Teachers/Faculty: The recent surge in institutional crimes underscores the importance of teachers and faculty members as the custodians of knowledge and wisdom. It is imperative for them to address social issues with an unbiased and empathetic approach, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all students. They must discourage strongly, the smallest of the behaviours that involve disrespect to each other's thoughts, feelings and actions that can both encourage an one to become an aggressor while discourage the victim to stay as one and make peace. With the prevalence of drug abuse on campuses, teachers must also be vigilant in identifying and addressing such challenges.
3. Management of Institutions: Given the escalating nature of crimes within institutional settings, the management holds a crucial responsibility in implementing security and safety reforms that effectively combat issues like sexual abuse and bullying. By providing education that equips students to protect themselves physically, mentally, and emotionally, the management can create a conducive environment for learning and growth. It is also critical that they involve security professionals to interact with the stakeholders and brief them from time to time about the developments of the Security Status of the Institution.

4. Students: In the face of increasing crimes like drug abuse and bullying, students must be empowered to become proactive in safeguarding their own well-being. By receiving Counter Crime Education and training, students can transform into resilient #FirstResponders for themselves and others around them, while being equipped to navigate and combat threats within their educational spaces.

Amidst the alarming rise in institutional crimes, envision a society where stakeholders commit wholeheartedly to creating a secure and nurturing environment for the youth. By collectively addressing the challenges of crime and safety within institutions, we pave the way for a safer and brighter future for the next generation.
In this transformative journey, initiatives like #TSoC_DELTA (India’s First Israeli Counter Crime Education) play a vital role in addressing the root causes of institutional crimes and fostering a #SecurityCulture within educational spaces. Let us stand together to combat institutional crimes and safeguard the well-being of our youth.
As I shared before - The Government, Police & The Law all come in later. Its is WE who build the society. The society from where both criminals and victims come. It is OUR SOCIAL responsibility to come together and create the aura of deterrence that is required.

8 个月“The foundation of #securityculture will need to start from home” - bull’s eye sir! Till the time each citizen does not start “living” the security culture it is not going to serve the purpose. Once I become security cultured, my family becomes security cultured, and eventually, the nation becomes security cultured.
