Instilling a Culture of Possibility

Instilling a Culture of Possibility

It’s never been more important for America's regional civic and economic organizations to provide strategic, long-term leadership and convene diverse stakeholders to pursue major opportunities, tackle complex challenges, and instill a culture of possibility.

This is the Greater Baltimore Committee’s purpose.

Economic transformations reshuffle which metropolitan regions lead and how they create pathways for prosperity and inclusive opportunities. This time isn’t just different, it’s consequential.???

Just 11 months into our transformation, we’re building a new GBC to maximize a moment that’s an undeniable window of opportunity for the Baltimore Region and provide sustained leadership over the next decade and beyond.?

The GBC is a non-profit powered by two types of partners: organizations engaged in shaping and implementing our multi-agenda and supporters who fund our capacity to bring the region together to make things happen.???

As you consider philanthropic investments on this Giving Tuesday, we ask that you consider a partnership to support the GBC.?

Join our movement to create a stronger Baltimore region by becoming a partner.

As we prepare for 2024, your support ensures the GBC:

Unifies the Baltimore Region’s business and civic leadership.

  • With our merger, more than 400 businesses (large and small), faith organizations, non-profits, academic and arts institutions are partners. We need a broad coalition to shape our region’s economic strategy, support investments in transportation and infrastructure, and author solutions for complex civic issues.??
  • We’ve asked partners to expand engagement. They’re providing philanthropic, marketing, HR, communications, and real estate talent to support our agenda and our initiatives, elevating the impact of the private sector.?

Partners closely with the public sector to make things happen.

  • Our regional 10-year economic opportunity plan, brand initiative (announced last week), and business investment marketing efforts include collaboration with our regional peers in the public sector.?
  • We’ve partnered with the Mayor’s Office to address the vacant house crisis and with the Baltimore Police Chief to support retention and recruitment of officers.
  • We now serve as partners for the Mayor’s Business Roundtable and on the Board of Directors for the Baltimore Metropolitan Council and the Maryland Commission on Transportation Revenue and Infrastructure Needs, strengthening our collaboration.
  • We regularly engage with federal, state, and regional county and municipal leaders to create shared-commitment in our areas of opportunity.?

Positions our region for an economic renaissance.??

  • In 2024, we’ll unveil our new annual investment scorecard, which will measure regional activity and inclusive growth, release the 10-year economic opportunity plan, produced by our partner TIP Strategies, and host our first regional business investment summit.
  • We’ll continue to pursue funding and benefits granted by the federal Tech Hub designation, while advocating for the full $10 billion funding of the transformative program.

Your support to date has given us a foundation to continue to make progress on our existing initiatives, while building organizational capacity to implement our other multi-year agenda goals.

This is just the beginning.? Thank you.?
