InstaReM Series A Deck
I found our Series A deck which Vertex lead back in March 2016. I thought it would be useful for early stage founders and Corporate folks who have been thinking of raising capital to start their venture. Vertex ventures has been an invisible force behind lot of our early success. A big thanks to them for investing in us and as a founder if I am ever going to re-start, I would come knocking down their doors again. Assuming that they will fund me again :)
Notes:
- The deck was super ugly, so focus on content, Good VC’s don’t care how the deck looks
- There is no team slide – Important to have a strong team slide, at early stage founders are backing the team and not the concept
- We were 4-5 months in but had lot of data to showcase. Good investors love Data
- Our original deck had more consumer but only one slide about B2B – we quietly pivoted to do both and today we are mildly successful in both
What did I miss?
- The deck is too long, should have been able to create a crisper 8-10 slide deck
- Missed the big vision on how cards can play an important role in our field
- B2B!!!
It’s been close to 4 years since we got the capital. And we have early traction and the only truly global SEA product, Fintech or otherwise with clients in all continents except Antarctica. Our journey continues but I hope the slides can help someone start their journey because this is the best time to build a start-up. We went through lot of rejections while raising capital. Rejections are normal and make you stronger. VC's who dont invest provide you valuable advice, ensure you can absorb that and adapt. At early stage, adaption is core for a founder. Founder's life is super lonely but the ride is exhilarating, I couldn't trade my last 5 years for anything.
