Instantaneous effortlessness - Expressing yourself with spontaneity

You must have seen some people around who have reached a level of expertise that can be termed as "Instantaneous Effortlessness" or "Effortlessness quotient". Many such people are visible in creative art forms such as Music. Hence, I am using Music as one of the anchors for this article and I will start with a music piece by Yanni, the famous Greek musician. In this video you will see that Yanni and his band are performing with beautiful smiles and they seem to be savouring the moment. Every intricate note is played with precision but yet there is a energy of Instantaneous effortlessness with which they are playing the piece.

In another video (below), if you see it till the end, you will find the performance of Prince, the famed singer, songwriter and music genius. He is playing out the aura of spontaneity mixed with Instantaneous effortlessness. The video is highly recommended. He is playing complex nuances of guitar while being playful, in the zone (or experiencing "Flow") and completely rejoicing his own effortlessness.

Prince is playing to his strengths and is doing it as if he is on an autopilot.

Although Music is the chief anchor of this article, let us look at the game of Football and why Messi is a legend. In the following video you would know why is hailed as the "God" of football.

Some of you who are reading this piece would already be knowing about endless feats of Messi but yet I encourage you to see the video with a view of looking at the effortlessness that he displays while performing tasks in a high pressure environment, when a team and the Country is betting on his success.

Messi is also a specimen of executing a complex task in a happy and light way. But, how does Messi or Yanni or Prince do it so effortlessly? Because they have put a lot of intricate hard work in something that they feel connected to. The effortless quotient of today is linked to the efforts put in for long years in the past to tune up the craft.

Being effortless in an uncanny way linked to being spontaneous. Besides putting in efforts brings you mastery over what you love to do. Besides this, when you start making notes, do a self critique and are open to newer ideas, you are able to foster spontaneity. Being spontaneous also means that you are expressing your ideal self and are authentic. In the universe of effortless action, tools and techniques like the spiritual process of Mindfulness or the business worldview of "Agile" helps us in our trajectory towards activating our effortlessness quotient.

In my coaching work, I listen to stories about spontaneity as well as authenticity. In most of the cases, wherever the leadership of a company had been pro-people, it had led to fostering high effortless quotient. The first step towards being effortless is to put efforts in one thing which is your own personal calling.
