We are always presented with two choices. The first choice is where we choose to avoid pain and go for immediate pleasure ( Watching TV for hours ). The second choice is a more painful and difficult one where you choose to delay gratification and do the painful work first before you get to enjoy the pleasure (Read the book)
Delay gratification is hard. Most people fail to achieve their goals because they choose immediate pleasure over pain.
Instant gratification - is easy/pleasurable in the short term but has no long-term rewards.
Delayed gratification - is hard in the short term but has a powerful long-term impact.
Before doing anything, check if it has short-term enjoyment or long-term impact.
Watching TV for hours is enjoyable in the short term but has no significant impact in the long term.
Reading books, exercising, writing blogs, and many more have short-term pain but a huge long-term impact.
Choice is Yours
